  1. Default New Fly Fishing Gear

So just last year I had an introduction to fly fishing and loved it. I'm preparing for several trips this summer/fall including Yosemite area, and the Great Smoky mountains. I thought I'd share some pictures of my new gear. I'm so excited to be leaving this weekend for a trip out west.

Some of the items I selected include: Simms G3 Waders, Simm's Rivertek boots, Patagonia Stealth Atom sling pack, TFO rod, Sage 1650 reel, and a Brodin landing net.

    Marmot Precip rain jacket

I did a lot of research on the selection (along with practice casting) and acquired most of these over the winter/early spring.

I feel like I'm ready to take on some rainbow trout now!

Great set of goodies. Before going on your trip, put everything together, and actually fish in your new outfit. If anything does not work, now is the time to find out.
Then get everything a little muddy and let it air dry. Your casts always look better in well broke in gear
But seriously, check in with the local fly shops for what's working where you are fishing. And most important :
    Enjoy yourself !

Yes. You must break in your gear. You do not want to look like a googan!

    Just kidding.

    Enjoy your trips.

As great as minimalism sounds in my head, I love acquiring new gear. Congrats on the new purchases. Enjoy them, and post some fish pics soon.
