What fish is this?

Watching the movie " Stand By Me" one of the characters makes a statement that he was fishing in the Royal River in Oregon with his Dad for "Cossies". Have heard a ton of nicknames for diffrenr fish but never the term "Cossie" !
Anyone know what this refers to?

On 2 sites on the web, pictures of "cossie-pigs" looked like large mouth bass. There is 1 youtube video taken underwater, looks like a very fat bass.

Had to bump this up! does anyone have a definitive answer? Sorry I get on these got to know streaks . How about you old time Oregon guys? Cossie?
