Re: 3 wt advice

I mainly fish a 3 wt. in the Shenandoah area, so I think we are fishing about the same kinda streams. I LOVE my Temple Fork Professional 2 7'6" 3 wt. And it won't make too much of a dent in the wallet.

They go for about 150, and I have loved every minute of fishing this thing. Its a blast!

Earlier this year, I picked up the Redington Tempt 3 wt 7'6". Very happy with it.

My main question for any of these rods is: Can they handle small nymphs (14 and down)?

They most definitely can handle small nymphs.

OK, one last question:

After doing some research, I see Allen has the Xa in a 6'6" (I really am leaning on the 6'6" because so many of the creeks here in KY and East KY where I fish are so tight, plus this rod will only ever see these creeks for trout and creek chubs and maybe some bluegill action). Now then: If you had the choice between the Allen and the Superfine Touch??????? (Price is NOT a determining factor here, I've just heard some good things about Allen.

Just to add one thing for this: Which rod could better handle small (size 14 lightly to moderately weighted) nymphs if I wanted to use a dropper, or light nymph rig?

Allen is having a closeout deal on the xa rods. Check the Deal of the Week because they're nearly half off. I think all they have left is the 3w and 7w.
