  1. Default Too many stickies?

Am I the only one who thinks there are too many stickies on this page? You have to scroll nearly halfway down to see any new threads. It seems like many of the threads are how-to's, or rules. Perhaps they could be moved to a separate subforum to clean things up a little? Maybe make a HOF forum for things like "Fishing Terminology?"

Maybe I'm in the minority, but the list keeps growing, and not shrinking. If we don't clean it up at some point, the entire first page will be nothing but stickies, so it has to change eventually.

    Hi,

They have been moved to the forums where they apply, we used to have a FAQ sub forum where many were nested but no one ever found them........ So they were shuffled, perhaps we can take a look to see if some cleaning is in order.

Looks a lot better, I am with you, it did get out of hand a bit. I manage a few other car related forums and what I have done there was create the rules and guides in a main section and then created stickies in each subsection with the links and titles. Found it worked much better and the page only had 1 to three stickies at any given time.

    For example:

A Few Tips For Posting Pictures To The Forums, and Thread Posting Tips, Can be one combined thread.

For our Visitors & Guests Viewing the Threads, and Forum Rules, The Short List, can be one combined thread.

Having so many stickies actually changed the way I viewed the forum, I only looked at new posts and some subscribed threads. milt

I don't know about too many stickies, but like Milt I'm 'here' frequently so I just click on 'New Posts.' New threads will show up with that so you can 'pick and choose' as you will.

I have no problem with the stickies the way they are. Like Fred, I am also on here frequently, so I usually just go to "New posts".

Another lifelong dream fulfilled. "Hey guys, I’m a wading boot historian !"

We’re resurrecting two year old posts, so it must be a slow day for others too. I‘m stuck here for a few hours waiting for the overhead door tech to arrive.

Stickies with techniques have legs, but the ones that are product related have a short shelf life.
( Figuratively speaking ) Imagine a new guy or gal surfing in to research wading boots, just to find out after filtering through fifteen pages of posts, that every product mentioned to that point was discontinued years ago. That’s a wasted hour of life they won’t be getting back - Atta’ Boy !

While I see some merit to holding rod and reel threads up or for that matter “ Don't cross this line “ threads, consumables like lines, waders, boots, etc. need to find their final resting place in the archives, where just like this thread, they too can be resurrected if one wants to go digging. But I digress, back to the waiting game.
