Default Allen Fly Fishing Shipping Costs

Just a heads up for you guys, the old policy of free shipping on hooks and beads from Allen is no more. I was placing an order for a couple packs of beads today that came to less than $5 and there is a $5 shipping fee.

It looks like, at least for me, that low priced orders for small items will be ordered elsewhere. I rarely need enough beads to pay $5 for shipping.

The good new is that shipping over $45 is free. Looks like they are trying to get out of handling small orders. Kind of bummed.

Well there shipping isn't free, so maybe they just realized they were loosing money if something had $1.30 profit and it cost them $1.28 to process and ship it.

It's been $25 or 30 minimum for quite some time Mike. Still a good deal as I order hooks several times per year. They have been giving away a lot of freebies for years. Not to mention selling pretty good hooks for $3 a pack since forever. I need to place a hook and bead order today.

I rarely order less than $50 in supplies anyway, so not a concern for me.

I never need to order that many hooks and beads at once. I guess it has been a while since I ordered hooks because I have never paid shipping for hooks delivered in a letter envelope.

Not saying I blame them but it was sure handy.

I generally only place small orders as well Mike. Bummed the free shipping is no longer an option.

Hey Guys, The shipping cost needed to happen to grow. Shipping costs are not cheap and it gets effected on small orders. No worries, we'll do promos a few times offering free shipping.

Yep, love to see you guys growing but sort of hate it at the same time. You've always been my favorite company to deal with, largely because you weren't huge and impersonal. But having great products, growth is bound to happen.

I'll just have to order a few hooks and beads when I buy one of your rods in a month or two!

I placed an order over a week ago and still have not received the items. I was willing to wait a while for receipt of goods when shipping was free, but now that you are charging for shipping, I hope that your processing of orders and your shipping times will improve.

Found your order. You placed it on Friday. It's been shipped on time within our time frame goals. A tracking number should be in your inbox as well.

Another reason isn't the shipping cost. We're actually one of the companies that play by the rules and pay Federal Excise Tax. That added 10% also digs into things. Sure, some companies cheat and don't pay it or don't know about it. However, I sleep better knowing the IRS isn't knocking on our door.
