Xink is a good product, I have tried it.
I like the smoky or brown-ish tippet material made by Maxima. I feel like it makes it much less visible.

You could either try not to get any floatant on the last 8-10 inches or use the xink on the last few inches and not get any on your fly. Either way eill work.

The trout I have been hitting lately are freshly stocked, and very forgiving. Not spooky at all, so I haven't bothered with this stuff yet, but later in the summer the Salmon and browns here in Maine get pretty finicky about the way you serve their meal.
