She's back:

Go, get her chipped. Collars can fall or be taken off.
If she goes missing, and someone takes her to a vet or the pound, the chip will tell them who she is, and you get her back.
They are passive, no battery or anything. Just information that's read with a scanner that all vets and pounds now have.

Dog on bed ...
Mz Dog-Dog has a collar and chip; I'm close to 80 I think, I really don't know, how dumb is that?, in dog terms she's about the same age. Come Monday I will call the Jeep dealership, have them come fetch the (four letter words) 'thing,' fix the damned thing or sell me a new one.
