Dad’s Fly Rod

My father who is now 80 decided to give my son his fly rod. I think I only saw him use it a handful of times. The line on it is probably 40 years old an looks like it. The whole set is from Sears and the rod simply says 7 1/2 foot Light Action. All that said it’s pretty priceless knowing my son now has it.

Priceless gift. I'd put a minute into figuring out what fly line will make it fish for you son so he can make a few memories with it.

Nice, I inherited my uncle's 1970's gear. Put some new line on it, and it's good to go.

That is the era I am guessing it is from based on my memory. I will definitely get some new line on it. Unfortunately teenagers being teenagers I don’t think he quite understands the importance or meaning it has just yet. I get it. I was passed on items from my grandfather when I was his age and I didn’t understand at the time either. Eventually he will.
