  1. Default Patagonia Gunnison Wading Pants, Worth the Money?

I believe that often you get what you pay for, but 300 bucks for wading pants? Are they really worth the money?

I like that they have pockets. Do any of you folks have these wading pants? What do you think?

I was looking at the Cabela's wading pants. Only 100 bucks.

Redington has a pair of wading pants for $140. I have no experience with them, but those have been on my radar. Simms has their Freestone wading pants for $230.

I have a pair of Redington wading pants and they are fantastic. I used to only buy Cabelas but they are so balloony and not form fitting at all I decided to try something else. I got the Redington with suspenders and they are exactly like wearing pants, where the Cabelas was like wearing trash bags. The Redington are very comfortable and very good quality. 3 seasons in and no leaks. I'd highly recommend the Redington and if you're hell bent on spending $300, just buy two pairs of them so you have a backup.

I've been wearing Dan Bailey waist high waders for over 5 years without leaks. I have two pair that I use everyday during the summer. There are two features that make it my favorite. Deep outside pockets and velcro belt adjustments. About $200 and well worth it.

Patagonia makes you ask that question with every purchase, but their stuff is top notch. Material quality, workmanship, attention to detail. They'll also repair your clothing. If you have $300 to spent on waders, you probably can't do better than Patagonia. Whether you want to spend $300 is a whole different thing.

    Folks,
Thanks for all the input. I really would love to have the Patagonia wading pants, but in the end I felt the price was too steep, so I settled on the Redington wading pants.
