Things appear to be calm now as before the quake. I view this event as I have the incident with that brown bear 6 years ago. Hard to believe it's been that long but it has. The quake like the bear are all part of being here, living here for years and years. They will come round and you will experience them even if that isn't your intention or desire. I count myself fortunate in that I've now had a run in with both with no harm done.

It's a safe bet that I will eventually discover some structural damage that escapes me at this time but with the short days and the colder weather I'm not going to go looking for trouble. Not long now we'll slip past December 21st and before you know it the daylight hours will climb at breakneck speed once more. That will be soon enough to go look for projects yet unforeseen

Anywhere can be the land of great expectations, broken dreams, or paradise found, it's all up to you.

Pretty amazing that the state had relatively little damage to property and lives given the magnitude of the quake.
I lived in CA in 1971 when the Sylmar (San Fernando) quake happened. That was a 6.6 I think.
Something like 65-70 people died in that one.
Of course, CA is a lot more densely populated than AK is.
Today is always the first day of the rest of your life.
    Use it wisely.

    Paul
