Default Superpumped I caught my first Steelhead

A few months back I visited the Trinity river, and took a drive to the Klamath one morning. I fished downstream from the Iron Gate dam first, and it was a little sketchy with the flows, so I moved down to the bridge a few miles west. My vury first cast from shore about 1 rod length out, getting some line out, and WHAMMO! Nice wild one that ran a few times before I gently beached and released it back into the water and it took off like a bat out of hell.

    Nice,

Looks like a hen, you'll probably take some flack about allowing it to lay on shore for the photo op but congratulations on a first. If you stay with us here my hops are that you will come to understand who precious and few those things are in your river. Keep at it and please don't tell me you caught her on a bead...………….

Congrats. That is a very nice looking fish that seems very fresh. I remember my first I caught on the Pere Marquette River in 1992. It was a 30 inch silver female. I was elated. So, I remember the feeling of that first fish and I am sure you will remember yours. Now, catch # 2. Best SR

Good job. Whether it's your 1st, 10th, or 50th, the excitement of catching a steelhead never goes away.

Congrats. You never forget your first.

As Ard says, if you're releasing steelhead try to keep them in the water, not on shore.

Congrats man. Excellent job. What was your rig/set up?

Great job. May you have many more opportunities at such a great creature. They are very special to behold and have a chance at contact with

Like Ard says..... some will give you beef on beaching a wild steelhead for a photo op like you did...but it's understood when one is as pumped as I'm sure you were. I get it. I've not done so myself with a wild West Coaster so I'm jealous, I would just say to try to keep them wet as best you can and all is cool.
