Default Best SA line for small streams?

I am looking for a SA line to put on a Hardy Shadow 4wt. Considering the Infinity Smooth Trout, but I am not sure if there would be something better. I will be fishing small mountain streams where casting over 30 ft is rare, and most casts are short roll casts of 10-15 ft. Ideas? I am running Rio Perception on my 4wt Sky but am concerned that is too much line for the Shadow.

I know they come in a million minor variants, but generically speaking SA Mastery Trout series double taper lines work well for me on small water, on a wide variety of rods.

The Infinity is a half-line weight heavy, 130 grams in the WF-4-F. I'm using that line on a 9'/#4 X. I like it, but not for small streams. SA Trout taper is a better small stream line. Available in the Mastery, Amplitude and Amplitude Smooth series. The Frequency Trout would also be a candidate at 120gr tough it is a different taper.

SA Amplitude Smooth Trout is what I'm fishing on 3 and 4. Very nice line imo.

SA has a DT available too in Frequency, Mastery and Amplitude. I keep DT-3-F and DT-4-F spooled up but have gotten away from using them very much unless I'm fishing bamboo.

Another vote for the SA Mastery Double Taper.

I have the SA Mastery Trout WF on my 3 and 4 weight rods and am well pleased with them. On my 5 weight I have a DT and am becoming a fan of that taper, especially for ease of mending.

Typical casts range from a rod's length of line out to about 20' on average.

Consider a Wulff Triangle Taper. It is a great line for roll casting line.

Another option in an "SA" line is the Orvis Pro Trout- same technology as the Amplitude lines (Orvis owns SA), but with a taper similar to a Triangle Taper. Roll pick up is excellent with this line, as is dry fly presentation and mending. It's a really nice presentation line with excellent floating characteristics. I went with their textured version (it's pretty subtle, and adds to the floatation), but they offer it in a smooth finish as well.

How do the double tapers handle wind and/or bigger terrestrials/stonefly dries?

    Why not for small streams?

My thought is on small streams, making short casts, there isn't a lot of line out of the tip of the rod, so you want some extra weight so the line will cast more accurately.

If I'm using a true to weight line with very little line out the tip I can't cast very well.

Yes Silver, I've got one on order and awaiting it's arrival. Looking forward to casting it, I've heard a lot of good things about that line.
