Hi Guys,

First I'ld like to thank all of you for letting me join your group.

I have a chance to buy
Orvis Clearwater II 9ft 8wt 4pc or
St Croix Reign 9ft 8wt 4pc

I'm going to Alaska in Aug to fish for Silvers

Which rod do you recommend

What are the prices & who has the best warranty?

Either will work, pay attention to your reels backing and drag capabilities.

I have the Clearwater II in a 9wt and it is a very nice rod. I expect either of your two choices will do just fine.

Either will do fine. With Salmon, the reel is indeed more important. I'd say the Lamson Velocity 3.5 is the starting point.

I have an Orvis Battenkill 7-8 that I have used on my 6wt sage and plan to use this on the rod I select, or I have a redington RS2 9-10

I think you will be just fine with either rod. The reel will be the big difference. Silvers can "really" put a strain of a reels drag system, you need to be prepared for an amazing fight! These fish are big and very aggressive.
I'd bring a b/u reel if I were you. The wife and I burnt up two reels on one week of fishing silvers.

Fishing for Silvers in AK, it doesn't get any better than that! I envy you, be sure to take lots of pictures and post a report when you get back!
