Air lock strike indicators: Why are they so hard to find?
I like the air lock strike indicators with the twist on nut that allows you to adjust depth very quickly. In the last month I have found them hard to find. One fly shop person I talked to said there was a defect and that some had been recalled. This could be, but I find it odd because all that I have used have been OK. Does anyone know what the real issue is behind this shortage and will they be back in the fly shops in the near future. They are very similar to the Orvis indicators and I was wondering if there is some kind of propietary challenge going on here. Just curious. SR

Not sure what to say, my local fly shop carries them.
I did a google search and found that you can buy them on eBay:

St Pete’s recently told me current models will be hard to find for a while as they’re coming out with a new design.

They had a q/c issue with the pegs pulling out. Redesign in the works to eliminate the problem. Taking longer than anticipated-

Re: Air lock strike indicators: Why are they so hard to find?
Thanks for the reply. This is what I heard from a shop dealer. I did have one peg pull out but I figured it was my fault. On balance, they seemed pretty tough to me. I did locate some on amazon and I have other indicators to use, but these are very useful in certain situations like when I am drifting heavier tungsten nymph. Best

product recall and nobody i've talked to knows when the next batch will get to the US. stock up if you see them and be extra careful with the o-rings!
