Site outage

Hi all,

Many of you will have noticed the site outage over the past 24 hours. We have established that this was due to lots of requests from Singapore causing problems. We've resolved this and are taking steps to prevent it from happening again.

Yes indeed! We're buying some new software to protect us in future so I hope it won't happen again!

This morning was pretty rough on the site.

Now, 2:00 PM EST, it's fine.

I believe this was a growing problem as late last night our analytical feed showed 103,234 guests logging on and off while at the same time we gained just one new registered member.......

I have received these database errors in the past. It seems to happen a couple times a year. This time it seemed more extensive. early this morning I was able to get on but the forum was extremely slow and eventually I received a msg ---- Service Unavailable - unable to service your request due to maintenance or capacity problems.

Seems all is well now ..... Thanks to all involved
