Thread: Do you fish alone, or go with someone ?

  1. Default Do you fish alone, or go with someone ?

I was just wondering how many of you go out fly fishing by yourself, or do always take a friend(s) with you ? ( I realize the "safety factor" involved that is why I always make sure my wife knows exactly where I am going & most of those spots I have taken her to so she knows where I am)

For me sometimes it is what river I'm headed for ? Most of the ones I fish are fairly close which is wonderful.

Do I need that time by myself ? (which I do often, when I want alone time with the my Lord & His marvelous creation)

How about fishing with the wife, or girlfriend ? Does she like to flyfish as much as you ? Or does she outfish you ?

I like both scenarios. There are times when fishing with a buddy is great. There are also times when I just need to be alone and go more to find solitude then to actually fish. The fishing at these times seems more like a bonus.

But I agree, the river is sometimes the best place for worship.

Curtis said it about right for me. Problem is I don't get out enough.

I'm almost always fishing by myself. I enjoy fishign with others occasionally, but I tend to want to move around much more than most others do.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

75% of the time I fish alone. I look at the weather, the moon and the crystal ball (if I'm off work) then I go. If I have time I ask some one to go but do to busy schedules that is sometimes difficult.

Fishing alone is the best. I move around ALOT when on the water and don't feel like having someone following me around to every spot. It's also just nice to get out alone on the water. On occasion it is alot better to fish with a friend or 2 if it's a spot you never fished before, or just a spot where there are so many holes right next to each other that you can each have your own hole.

I fish alone. I don't have anyone to go flyfishing with. I know your not supposed to the safety factor and all but, if it means going fly fishing or not then fly fishing it is. If you find me floating face down in the water. So be it, I would have died enjoying something I love to do!
    I have never met a fish I didn't like.......

I would have to say that for me it is about 50/50. I always treasure my time alone on the trout stream, but somehow it seems enhanced and a little more magical when shared with a friend.
