Default Went Fishing for Trout...Caught Trophy Bass!

Click the image to open in full size.

I was at the local trout stocked lake this afternoon, and caught this with a
#12 Wooly Bugger ! I was using a 9' 5wt Z-Axis, and a 9' 4x leader.
It took a while to get this fish to that little net...the net served more as a
spatula ! Length was 22", but the girth was FAT.

He was heavy for sure! I usually don't play fish off the reel, but I got him on
pronto . He made a few runs, and it would have sounded great on my
Orvis clicker .

The Z-Axis was excellent during the battle: it had plenty of backbone,
but the tip flexed nicely and protected my 4x tippet. Eventhough I was
worried about breaking him off, I did put a lot of pressure on that beast.

HookEmHorns, Best of luck ! I think I'm going to become a big fish addict
at this point .

BTW: I look ridiculous in any sort of hat/cap.....

Nice fish.

When you are fishing your woolly bugger for bass, do you strip it in quickly? Slowly? Alternate between the 2? I am just looking for some tips, and it looks like you are the guy to give it.
