I did a little search and didn't see a thread on this particular topic. Thought we could do a little top 5 list of the best trout streams in the US. Nothing scientific here, just a list of what you think are the best trout streams in the US. It could be based on personal experience, reputation or wish list. Your list could include both tailwaters and freestone or you can separate it and have your top 5 tailwaters and top 5 freestones. Let me know what waters are on your list.

I haven't done a lot of fishing outside my area but my list, in no particular order, would be the East Walker, the Little Truckee, Hat Creek, The Pit River, and the Green River.

Tough Question as there are so many great places to fish.

The top five rivers I have never fished would be:
1: Bow River in Calgary
2: Deschutes River in Oregon
3: Nak Nak in Alaska
4: Lee's Ferry in Arizona
5: Ausable in Michigan

The top rivers I have fished, and had epic days.
1: Bighole River Salmonfly hatch
2: Mother's Day Caddis on the Yellowstone
3: Skwala's on the Bitteroot
4: Green Drakes on the Roaring Fork
5: Steelhead on the Bulkley River in BC.

Good one Texbevo,

1. Spring Creek, Pennsylvania
2. South Platte, Colorado
3. South Fork Madison River, Montana
4. Ausable River, N.Y.
5. Kenai River, Alaska

The two stand outs are Spring Creek for most trout per acre & the Kenai for the shear size of the Rainbows there.

South PLatte CO.
The Spring River AR.
and my home water The Little Red in AR.
Most other rivers I have fished are put and take streams in MO.
Now the Little Red is a put and take for bows, but has a wild Brown trout and a small wild brookie population and the browns get HUGEEEE I caught a 20" brown monday and while it was a nice fish it didnt excite me that much on this river.

Eric,

The ones where I now fish the most and where I catch all my fish are not posted. You show due diligence in your response to the thread. Loose lips sink ships.
