Thread: Need some help

  1. Default Need some help

    I recently purchased a herters fly tying wing comb without instructions. Does anyone have the instructions they could scan and e-mail me?

    Hi,

    I don't even know what they are, are they a new thing or ( judging by the maker) an old tool. If you could post a picture of it, I may have one but don't know it by the name. Otherwise someone here will no doubt know what it is and help you.

    From the 1977 catalog;

    Herter's Wing Maker

    Using any wing quills it makes a whole strip of left hand wings and a strip of right hand wings in less time than it takes to cut out and match up a pair of wings by hand. No other wing former or maker will do this.
    The wings produced are far more durable than those produced by hand cutting and matching and their backs are cemented permanently together on the wing maker cementing every feather fiber in the correct position.
    The wing combs for the Wing Maker regulate the with of the wings to be made. Two comb sizes are supplied with our Wing Maker

    Wing maker with 2 combs Sizes (1/8" and 1/4"), cement, thinner and detailed instructions $7.79
    My father had nearly every Herter's tying gadget, but not this one, sorry.
