Any kind of synthetic yarn works fine.
Natural fiber yarns absorb water, synthetics don't.
Personally, I have a life time supply of both "Aunt Lydia's" tri-lobal yarns and yarns used for rug hooking.
There's no need for the marked up stuff from a fly shop

Thanks Rip, I let the para-post go over my head since I've never tied drys, your answer is great, I only want to use the material as a indicator in the post position on some foam ants I'm playing with and have a ton of synthetic yarns material to work with, no need to buy more.
