I made a slight modification to itch post. I get my beads for the most part in craft shops, Hobby Lobby, Joann's, Michal's or ebay. Most of the beads are sized in x/0, IE - 11/0, 6/0, 15/0, etc.

Here is how they are sized.

The 1/16″ - 1.6 mm 15/0 to 14/0 beads fits hook Sizes-22 thru 26
The 5/64″ - 1.9 mm 11/0 to 12/0 beads fits hook Sizes-18 thru 22
The 3/32″ - 2.4 mm 10/0 beads fits hook Sizes-16 & 18
The 7/64″ - 2.8 mm 8/0 9/0 beads fits hook Sizes-14 & 16
The 1/8″ - 3.2 mm 7/0 to 8/0beads fits hook Sizes-12 & 14
The 5/32″ - 4.0 mm 5/0 to 6/0 beads fits hook Sizes-10 & 12
The 3/16″ - 4.8 mm 4/0 to 5/0 beads fits hook Sizes-6 & 8
The 7/32″ - 5.5 mm 3/0 beads fits hook Sizes-2 & 4

Default Re: bead guide

One of my first packs of Wapsi beads I ever bought.. Had a bead to hook size chart and taped it to my fly tying desk Most of the time now I can just tell by looking at the bead and the hook.. if it looks too big for the hook.. it probably is.. if it looks to small.. it probably is.. but sometimes you want to oversize or undersize for one reason or another.. But it definitely still comes in handy.. your bigger problem will be what one bead maker considers a "7/64" bead and what the other thinks is the same size bead.. there could be a .2mm difference between the two.. or you get Allen which throws some odd sizes in the mix(1/9" ????).. Wholesale Fly Company lists all their sizes along with what hooks they'll match in their drop down menus
