Thread: Let's see your tying station

  1. Default Here is my nest in the basement

This is my nest. I love the peg board. You can't tell in the pictures but I have most of the pegs stacked with atleast 5 packs of dubbing and other materials. I can see everything on the board from sitting at the desk.

The bench that my vice is on, I made it myself and it is portable. The desk I got at a garage sale for $20. I sanded it and painted it.

The middle drawer is my hook and bead drawer plus some misc. stuff. I got tired of all the hook and bead packets taking up space so I recently got the containers and labled each compartment.

The middle drawer on the right is my feather and hackel drawer. My "hair" drawer is on the left and not open in any pictures.

My tieing light isn't pictured either. It is a cheapo work light clamped onto the self above my desk with a 100W bulb. It works and is saving me from spending money on a light.

I wish I could say thats the case, I normally buy 5 of what ever right off the bat, never know when some things aren't available anymore. The one good thing is there's really nothing new out there that I feel I gotta have. Not really into a lot of the synthetics.

What about Sudo-Hackle? Cool Stiff. Just remember to cut it in half at an angle so you can get the same effect as the real stuff.

Joni- can't say that I've heard of that stuff. Do you have a link to anyone that sells it. I'm kinda old school with materials but don't have a closed mind.
    Couple of my ties.

Joni, tell us more about that Sudo Hackle. I never heard of it either. I guess I'll google it.

Those are some very nice flies. The streamer is really well done. You obviously take pride in your tying. Does that bottom fly land right side up every time?

Frank I'd have to say no to everytime. Its a tricky fly to tie only because you have to get the wings and hackle size just right.
