Is it the same thickness as tyer's tape? I have heard this a long time ago, and forgot about it. Back when it was talked about, I did not use lead tape. I do use it occasionally, but certainly not very often.

I think the stuff from golf shops is too thick. What I've done is purchased the the normal lead spools and then used a small jewelers hammer to flatten the lead as needed.

You can also buy solder or fuse wire and flatten it. Available at hardware/radio shack etc. Make sure you don't get acid core or flux core-you want solid. That's what everybody used back in the day.
If you're really up for the DIY experience, buy a lead sinker or duck decoy weight or pick up scrap lead at the recycler. Melt it in a ladle on your stove, pour it onto a dry disposable surface then cut it to size when it cools.
