    Don't know if you have seen them, but YouTube has videos showing hook removal.

    One guy shows these graphic images in video, in which a guy imbeds something like 3, 2/0 Circle Hooks in his forearm, with barbs intact.

    Then he shows the 3 ways of removing an embedded hook.

    The man seems to use no anasthetic whatsoever, and seems to just ignore the physical pain.

    I am glad of one thing in light of this subject. I have started crushing the barb on every fly that I tie.

    After pulling one (barbed) out of the tongue of our older Cocker Spaniel several years ago, I am very aware of exactly how many hooks I have out on the bench at one time (by orders from my wife).

    My dog chewed open a plastic bag of 20 hooks. Found 16. The vet said none in the dog. Those plus the tiny ones that have shot from my vice into another dimension are still to be found.
