    Default Tying "Fan-wing" question.

Where do you find white fan-wing feathers?

Looked through all my catalogs with no luck.

Seems the perfect feather is hard to find anyway:
    1. a little taller than wider
    2. slightly rounded corners
    3. tips parallell to floor after tied-in.

The "official" feather is the wood duck breast feather.

    Dette Trout Flies has them.

    depends on your fan wing.
For Royal Coachman, use white mallard breast feather
    For Adams use gray mallard

wasnt there an article in maybe fly tyer magazine regarding the tying of fan wing flies with partridge or grouse feathers?
Poor quality materials and tools are destined to discourage beginner tiers and cause greater expense when the time comes to replace them.
