Default The best flies I've tied so far.

Hey guys, I am really looking forward to my tying lesson this coming Sunday with Vince Wilcox. Here are a few flies I have tied this week. My best work ever. It was like something just clicked. I am really excited about how they turned out. Remember I have been only tying for 2 months. I know that they are not perfect but I like them.

Tell me what you think and what I should work on. Thanks

I'd be really surprised if VW can improve on what you are tying now ! I'd say something clicked for you. Great Job.

Thank you. You have no idea how long it took me to tie those! I must have redone those 10 times each until I got them that way. So there is still a lot to learn.

Great job! The spun and clipped der hair and streamers are particularly impressive for someone just starting, but I'm sure all of them will catch fish. Practice, repetition, and consistency are probably what you should continue to work on.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the great comments. Lots of frustration went into those flies. I took some advice from Eunan. He said to never settle with something you weren't happy with. Some of those flies sat in the vise for days before I got it right.

Nice work, especially with the spun-hair head on the sculpin, that can be a tough technique to nail down. Same with the upright, divided hair wings- it can be tricky, and you pulled it off well. I'd happily fish any of those!

Heck, I'd just aspire to do what you do now.
