    Hi to all,

Using true circle hooks may not be a good idea for trout. A circle hook is a bait hook and If you try to set the hook before the hook is pulled down into the corner of the fish's mouth, you will pull it out of their mouth. Circle hooks are used by Bass guides with plastic baits for dude fishers that don't set the hook properly. The fish has to pick up the fly/bait and swim off with it in its mouth. As the line tightens, the hook is pulled into the corner of the mouth and is hooked. I just don't see trout holding the fly long enough for the fish to swim off with the fly against the resistance of the line.

The picture shows a true circle hook used by commercial fisherman.
