what do you guys think of this vise. its going to be my first vise. my cousin has it and he says its pretty good. the only concern i have is the knobs that adjusts the tension on the hook.

I have a spider vise. I think it makes a great first vice, but I am sure someone with more experience with vices in general may have some other suggestions. I purchased it b/c I did not want to spend a lot of money on something when I did not know if I would like tying flies. I also wanted a rotary vise. I have been able to tie a variety of fly sizes with it. I have been tying flies for a year now and do not have any current plans to replace the vice. It meets my needs.
Not sure what your concern is with the knobs. They are a bit odd. Sometimes I just need to adjust one and sometimes I have to adjust both knobs on the arm (not sure of the name of that part) for the same size hook, but that isn't a big deal - at least for me.
