Default The Pheasant Tail Nymph as Sawyer tied it

If you have ever wondered how Frank Sawyer, the originator of the Pheasant Tail Nymph, originally tied it, here he is tying it, in person.

(Incidentally, that's copper wire that he has already wrapped around the hook shank when the clip begins. He tied the fly using only wire and tail feather fibers, no thread.)

    So cool.....

(I've tried tying nymphs this way, and they come out looking like a dog's breakfast. That isn't saying much, since my regular PT's look only slightly more appetizing than the cat's breakfast.....)
    Tight lines!

It is amazing how productive this little fly is and how simple it is to tie.
Great old video! Thanks for posting it.

What's so funny is....If today somebody tried to sell you a fly that looked that ugly, you couldn't have given it away...LOL
