Finally got to go home for a weekend, and tied a bit. My box had been looking a little neglected lately.

Here is an experiment with foam body, and pearlescent flash sheet. Kinda rough I know, Don't look too close but I like the ideas. For the foam I cut a piece of exercise mat in torpedo shape and heated the eye of the hook and pushed it through.
It floats marvelously and the wings really make a nice buggy shadow.

cheers

Ginger Quill & Quill Gordons,

I am trying to get my groove back, it has been almost 9 years since I tied dry flies........

I was once able to make Blue Quill dries down to a size 20 with mallard wing quill slips used as the little slate wings. I'm not sure that I can still do this The flies I'm tying are on #14 & 16 hooks and they seem plenty small these days.......
