I bought a dollar store duster with really nice Marabou in a color I had never seen in a fly shop. Best dollar I ever spent in there. Well, maybe not the best, but it was a well spent dollar.

Wow! Stuartpengs, not only are those really nice flies but your job of photos is outstanding.

Lovin all the great flies everyone is tying.
Starting to have some fun with the deer hair. These were a mix of shrimp pink and brown. Love the pattern they create. No two are alike.
Hoping these will tempt the big boys in the spring.

    Cheers

Tying deer hair flies, mostly bass bugs, is the type of tying I've really gotten into in the past few years. This in part because the California Delta, a great bass fishery, is close to where I live, while the best trout waters in California are at least several hours drive away. I also find deer hair a new challenge, its frustrating when you screw it up, as I frequently do, but exhilarating when you get a nice looking bug made. I doubt the fish mind, but as a tier I want those flies to turn out looking good as well as fishing well. Here's a sample of some of my bass bugs, not tied in the last few weeks but still pretty recent ties.

Those are wicked a$$ cool. Are the patterns painted on or are they created with different colored deer hair? They look like they would work for big trout too.

Just your standard, run-of-the-mill, EHC. Still a fish catching machine.
