Tied up a bunch last night after catching a steelhead on the prototype (in the orange scheme). Currently titled the "Ellicott Special" until someone points out that the pattern already exists

Robert, post a picture of the poppers, I want to see how you do the chenille body! I haven't caught any topwater bass on the fly yet.

Thanks for the praise JP, but I think it will be quite some time before I'm a top tier. Luckily I'm young so I have plenty of time for that, and a good venue to distribute flies to excellent product testers

I've been tying size 28 midges with just a dark tungsten bead and purple thread bodies. Some were wrapped with a very fine wire found when disecting a catheter used to coil brain aneurisms. That same catheter, besides having beautiful green and gold wire in it also had a nice length of platinum wire in it that coud possible make the worlds most expensive midge.
Not too hard to tie if you can get the bead on without losing it forever and as long as you have some sort of good light and magnification. These dratted things are what the fish were hitting on best amongst about 12 of us fishing a tailwater last weekend.
Kinda dorky I know but they did the job!

Next up are experiments using Fish Helmets and articulated fly attachment gizmos from Flymen Fishing Company. The owner presented at our last fly fishing club meeting and was generous with not only his time but his knowledge and hardware as well.

This should be fun... jumping from #28 hooks to 2/0
