I picked up some Partridge Wilson Salmon #12 hooks to try. I've always liked the profile of these hooks.
All patterns I'm experimenting with. Man am I getting impatient; 29 days to opening day.

Phil: Nice work! I understand about getting impatient about opening day. The local rivers here are still pretty frozen. We've had some nice warm days so it shouldn't be much longer before the water opens.

Couple days ago we had a huge melt and run off. All the main rivers and streams surged, flooded and are still red with silt and clay. It will have changed a lot of the fish landscape from last year. Its back to well below freezing now. Hope it warms up soon to have bearable temps for opening day.

Kind of a 'pmx X stimulator' moth pattern for alpine brookies, cutts, and suspending nymphs:

More moths, a few simple deer hair caddis, a BWO, and a copper john:

Here's a bass slider/ deer hair Sneaky Pete I tied this weekend. Its tied on a TMC 8089 size 6 hook; I trimmed it so its not too large in the hopes it would work for both smallmouth and largemouth bass. I like the look of this fly, we'll see if the bass do.... The rear of the fly is tied with darker chartreuse body hair, the front with lighter belly hair. As usual with my deer hair flies, it has its flaws, you can see I didn't get the black nose quite right, the hair didn't spin evenly around the hook. And the tail hair is probably too long. Oh well, they're fun to tie and I'm looking forward to fishing them this spring. Tying these gets me fired up to fish.
