    Fly Tying related question:

do you guys re-use beat up/torn flies?
yesterday i went fishing and used my brand new Rainbow Warriors i had tied earlier.
i lost one, and few got chewed by fish and snagging them on tree's/rocks, etc, you could tell they've been used ..even the bead was all beat up.
anyways, i removed all the messed up materials off of them and retied RW's again on same hooks using beads that were already on there.
the only thing i thought i noticed different is that the hooks felt just a tiny bit softer? as i would wrap the thread they would bend just a slightly bit
    or am i imagining things?
so do you guys re-use hooks?
    thanks

On the subject of repairing/rebuilding flies:
This clouser got pretty beat up, including getting its bead chain eyes ripped out.

Here it is again after I rebuilt it (only the hook is original haha)

I have a small plastic container I call 'unlikely to ever fish'
They are flies that I wasn't happy with
When things get lean I will for sure strip them and reuse the hooks
At the outrageous prices I've seen for hooks why wouldn't I ?

Thatīs funny, I also have such a special place for my ugly flies. But I am pretty sure, if we would fish with them, we would catch fish too

I agree, they probably would catch fish, but it's all about embracing your "inner snob". As I improve my standards keep going up. I'll have three hundred flies by opening day but will only use about the most recent twenty.

Those big salmon and streamer hooks wouldn't be cheap. Back in the early 90's I remember hooks being less than half the price they are now. They were sold in packs of 50 and hundred for about what they want for 25 now a days.
