That fly, on a small saltwater hook would make a killer False Albacore (Bonita) fly. I'll have to borrow that pattern.

I'm not a saltwater man, but given the proper hook and proportions, it certainly would catch just about anything. I use a 2X long or 3X long hook and several different shades of white/gray chenille. I use either holographic mylar cord or Wapsi Mirage cord. Both work great. I've caught everything from white bass to longnose gar on them. I usually use a size 8 or size 10 hook.

Kept it simple again last night and tied up a couple Alexandra's for the Winged Wet Swap.
I did a slight variation of this fly in that i included both the red ibis sub and peacock sword in the tail. I've seen it tied with either alone.
I also included the red ibis sub in the cheeks, again, its been tied with and without the cheeks. For the throat i used black schlappen fibers, and they work at treat i think.
Have a gander...The lighting in the picture is poor, so you dont get the full color of the swords, but they are really iridescent.

Very cool midge and the effects in the photo remind me of...we'll leave that out Here's some of the stuff I was tying before my fingers were filled with chip splinters and boo cuts.
