I got the idea when I threw a big Sharpie marker from work on my tying table and it landed next to some raw poppers that I had glued the hooks to the night before.


I figured it would give a nice silhouette. First test worked with about a dozen medium sized bass hitting it. They beat it up pretty good, so I took the maker and painted it again, a new coat of Sally's and it was good to go.
I guess I need to experiment with epoxy for more durability.

Tail- claret pheasant with pink angel hair
body- chartreuse hollo tinsel
body hackle- chartreusse dyed grizzle
rib- chartreusse utc wire
under hackle- orange badger under chartreusse guinea
wing-bronze mallard
jungle cock cheeks dyed chartreusse

Even though I haven't been Tying I've been Fishing using Two Fly Similiar to the one Pictured,they are both Good Fish Catchers.
1. Grizzly Adams:
Black Tail,Lt Grey Body,A Grizzle Hackle in front of The Brown,Synthetic Wing.
2.
Fawn Grizzly
Deer Hair Tail,Golden Fawn Body,Hackle & Wings as above.

Both are Tied on #14 or #12 Hooks

Laurie I also like Your Tie.

I would throw a few of these on heavier irons in with your steelhead flies for your friend. These look deadly good!

Laurie, I fished a pattern very similar to your dabbler last year for steelhead and lake-run browns and had some great success... I may be borrowing that pattern
