Plugs, That's a beauty. How about:

The Mandarin (wouldn't work for other colors, though)

The Low2 (a contraction of low O2 referring to the orange in a flame which is starved for oxygen)

The Roscoe Canna ( based on similarity to the flower Canna compacta Roscoe) or "Roscoe Canner"

    The Tikki Torch

Spey 1 & a half Carrot (depends on hook size, just guessing)

The Partisan (type of polearm like a halberd, whose shape is suggested by this tie)

The Cider Cork (imagine a jug of hard cider being opened )

The Candy Corn Spey ( has been used before in flies like Candy Corn Crawler for redfish)

I'll see if any more come to mind.

Ok I was doing a little free hand and came up with this one that I really like.
Plugs, I like how the bar on the dyed GP tippet lines up with the herl. I really like the lines of that fly.

    you answered your own question

Poor quality materials and tools are destined to discourage beginner tiers and cause greater expense when the time comes to replace them.

    Holo Black & Silver spider
    Hook: Allen F-004 #12
    Thread: UTC 70 fluorescent white
Rib: UTC wire silver brassie size
Body: Veevus H13 black Holo tinsel medium
    Thorax: peacock Prism SLF
    Hackle: black hen
Head: two turns white thread, then colored with Chameleon marker Crimson Red before whip finish

    Second pic:
    Hook: Stealth N14
Tag: same thread colored Crimson Red

Hard to capture black Holo tinsel effect in photo, but I like it a lot in person.

Thanks Boris, I ment for that wing to line up with the end of the tail as well but at 4 am after a 10 hour work shift I wasn't going to try again LOL

Still looking for a name for this fly. Who ever gives it a name or inspires me to come up with a name from their suggestions that I like gets the fly mailed to them.

That is a nice pattern. Here's a few name ideas off the top of my head.

    Bobo the Clownfish
    Red headed stepdaughter
    Tangerine dream machine
    Kumquat knot
    Pumpkin spice frapucinno
    Donald Trump

Tied some flies with the guru at a local fly shop. He showed me some pike patterns and I tied this single articulated bucktail pattern. This ones about 9" long.

This is my first go at some traditional-ish spey flies. I got decision paralysis when looking at a bunch of patterns so I just made my own:
