With temperatures going to hit the 60's in a few days, things are about to get fishy around here. Tied up some size 12 hairs ear nymphs in preperation.

I'm catching up tying a variety of small (for me) Mayfly patterns. For the body extension I like to use a single goose biot. Pictured is a size #18-2X. I give the goose biot a thin smear of Loon UV Clear Fly Finish for durability.

one of the things I'm going to change this year from last year is to actually size DOWN in the stuff im throwing for SMB. Last year i was throwing too big for my river systems so im going to throw an average of 2.5 - 3" in length, tying most of my stuff on 4's with the occasional size up to a 2 like these smaller brush game changers. they are only about 3.25" and are just a touch longer than the clousers i tied earlier in the winter. I also want to carry less Varieties of patterns and commit to throwing 4 different patterns in a lot of color and size options and see if that removes the analysis paralysis of having too many patterns in the box.
