    Thanks Eastfly66 but the hackle is way not right but the way I've always fished them. The hackle is supposed to be the same length as the hook gap. I don't tie them for correctness but how I like to see them in the waters I like to fish. In a fast freestone river the longer hackle presents a larger profile I like to see

    No this is tied on a 2X stout hook then weighted that I fish under a indicator in still waters for stocker trout.

    I was taught--a few decades ago--to tie my nymphs with shorter tails, but I like the way you've tied that. I've started tying mine with body length tails now, too, especially if I'm trying to go for a callibaetis impression.

    I prefer the longer hackle too , some I tie are 2X long if I got em !
