    Prichard's Western Angler

    Category - Summer Steelhead

    Hook - Gamakatsu T10-6H
    Thread - Black
    Tail - Dyed red calftail
    Body - Black chenille
    Rib - Oval gold tinsel
Throat - Dyed purple hackle fibers
Wing - White polar bear or substitute (i used white bucktail)
Topping - Small bunch of dyed orange calftail, shorter than the wing

This variation of the Skunk (which see), was originated by Wayne Orzel for the Kalama River in Washington
Poor quality materials and tools are destined to discourage beginner tiers and cause greater expense when the time comes to replace them.

Glad you like them. Those are my brush mullets. Great snook fly here in FL. If i ever get an airbrush i would love to do those in a brown or rainbow trout pattern.

I really like them also. They would be great flies for the bass here and the three below those would do even better when the bass are chasing the shad.Great ties!

Thank you. I haven't used them on bass yet. I can never seem to get away from topwater for bass.

Tiemco salmon hooks are very expensive. Mustads (for example the Signature SL53U BL model) are just as good and about a third the price. Some private label hooks (I like the TFS 8774 model from The Fly Shop in Redding, Calif.) cost even less but are still good quality.

Just finished my fourth and final dozen of these: super buoyant and overhackled. If it doesn't float and hold a dropper, I don't want it.
