It seemed like they were in clearer water. They have some unique coloring. There are few very chrome fish pushing up river at this time, but that will change soon. Nice work on the bullets. Tight lines!

Three more fish today, one a skipper well out of his element but incredibly bright and quite inspired. They progressively got bigger as the day went on too, so by the end of the day I had landed an average-sized hen which gave me a few good runs, unfortunately, she's the only one I did not get a photo of, so I guess it didn't happen

    First cast:

    A little later:

    And a safe release!

They are nice looking fish. What are they taking? Nymphs? Eggs? Streamers? I'm always curious to see what other Steelheaders use in other parts of the country.

#14 Egg-sucking stone pattern I BSed. Basically biots for the tail, black UV dub for the abdomen with copper rib, double copper bead thorax, brown and black barred rubber legs for the legs, swiss straw for the wing case, a couple orange estaz wraps at the head for the egg. I'll be tying some later today and I'll get them posted, definitely nothing special but it seemed to be working.

That's an inventive design. I usually use a flashback stonefly nymph, hex or egg pattern I tie up. I'll swing more streamers once it warms up some. Awfully windy and cold up here as of late.

Here's another that fell for the egg-sucking stone, I headed out today to test out the new tripod and do some video work but caught this hen before setting up the camera... figures

Nice work! We just got 16 inches of snow. Still colder here, but heading out tomorrow. A few days ago my friend landed a gigantic brown, his first ever.
