Dupage River Report
Flowing to freezing overnight. I scouted this location yesterday to check for ice or anything that would prevent me from fishing, but all looked well. Last night I got my gear together and tied a few backstabber flies to try. And planned a trip in the morning.

I woke up to 8* and brisk breeze. I pushed throught the cold weather and jumped in the jeep. I got to hammel woods and walked to the river. And overnight a river with no ice turned into this.

I tossed a couple of flies into some of the holes in the ice but no action. It wasn't a complete waste of time through. I saw a few smaller fish and various points underneath the ice. Plus with the river only frozen slightly it made seeing some of the slack water spots a little easier.

I'm gonna keep my eye on the river and tie up some more flies so when I can get into the river I'll be ready. And also going to see if Silver Springs State park ponds are frozen or not, being spring feed I'm hoping they stay too warm for ice.

The ice was gone today but was skunked. I had one chaser and no ice off for my rod eyes. Went home and tied up some flies. Back at it tomorrow.

Re: Dupage River Report
If I'm not mistaken, the DuPage River runs fast at your location you were fly casting and is fairly wide in that area (off of I-55 and Rt. 52). How far did you cast your line out? Good pictures as well that you took.
