Steelhead fishing Near Traverse City MI

I am planning a steelhead fishing trip in Traverse city area.

I heard that early part of April is good Steelhead fishing near Traverse city.
Betsie river near Benzonia is a good spot , floating is recommended to cover larger area.

Also there is Platte river and Elk Rapids near Dam'

I am planning to use a guide service for a day to get this experience. Before I book the service, any advice, suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

While I don't make it up there often you may want to try Traverse City Area Fly Fishing Trips - Current Works Guide Service the owner is Ted Kraimer. His website has up to date fishing reports for the area as well as fly patterns. It's a beautiful part of the state, you're going to enjoy it!

Forgot to mention at that time of the year you can get into some nice pre-spawn Smallmouth in Grand Traverse Bay as well.

I never fished in Betsie River before so I am trying to get feedback from someone who fished there.
Also is that area best Steelhead area near Traverse City?

Soon I need to book this trip with a guide service in that area, so before I make that commitment looking to get some advise on this forum.
