  1. Default Guideline products

Anyone have experience with the Guideline ACT 4 spey rods. I'm looking at either the 12'6" 8/9 or the 13'7" 9/10 for skagit casting for winter steelhead and or salmon on the Bulkley/Skeena. Likely matched to a Guideline Haze V2 8-10 reel.

I can speak to the general quality of the milling on their reels (it's damn good), but the spool release button on my reel is completely jammed and the spool is now permanently fixed to the reel. I'd read that this was a problem on the Watergrip reels, but I'm not a multiple spool guy so it doesn't bother me. The drag and one-way bearing are top notch as well, and feels nicer than a lot of the middle-range reels I've owned or played with at the shop (Orvis, etc.).

I have used the Le Cie spey rod by Guideline and the Haze reel. Their equipment is top of the line. Their lines are bar none the best I have used.
