Thanks for the kind words, scottyb. I'm looking forward to your first "on-stream research" report...

And, for a few others in my collective of long-distance friends... watch your mailboxes later today. You just might find a "care package" from the confines of northern Michigan among your mail...

Tight lines, now and always, my friends...

Hi Jerry,

An old friend who heard I had just retired, stopped by today to see what I was doing with my new "free time". A true buddy, he suggested I avoid the Mrs. and her now limitless Honey-Do list.... grab a rod and escape to a quiet little stream he knew of that I hadn't fished before.

Well, that didn't take any convincing so I grabbed my new Fly Box 90 and off we went. I have to tell ya, fishing only your flies for the first time proved that my first impression had been correct. They ALMOST look too good to use, but you'll be a lot happier if you do!

I just wish I had brought along a camera, as we had a terrific time! Lots of laughs, and some beautiful trout brought to the net. Really enjoyed having you and the girls there with me... My "skill" certainly seemed to have increased with the new arsenal on the end of my Tippett!! :D

Thanks again, and Best Regards...

Ron

Ron,

You're quite welcome! If ever I can contribute further to any "angling delinquency"-- I'm years past anything resembling "juvenile delinquency," so "my girls" frequently refer to my pursuit of everything "fly" as the aforementioned "A.D." --just let me know. My new goal at the vise is to make the TBI's (Trout Bureau of Ingestion) Ten Most Unwanted tiers list!! I'll let you know how that works out...

Keep gettin' 'em wet and enjoying the flies, my friend. I can always make more...

Tight lines always, Ron...

Today was the first time I've been able to hit the trout stream since 3 weeks before my son was born (early May). I didn't use any of the flies I bought from you, Jerry, but I did tie on a Cream Cahill in honor of Emily to start things off.

Sorry for the crappy quality as these are raw video screenshots but these two guys fell victim to the cahill...

My Friend,

Everybody needs that certain "kick-off" fly, a favorite that we always tie on to start a day astream-- hatch or no hatch. Right now, I believe that three girls are looking down on us and smiling over the fact that you chose to go with a Light Cahill. All good...

One day, you'll "gift" your son with the knowledge gleaned from your hours on the water, and so will begin an adventure for you both that will serve you well in the years to come...

Tight lines to you both... always...

Just a quick "heads up" for some... Another batch of boxes left yesterday, and most should arrive within a day or so. Please let me know when they do, if you would be so kind.

More boxes depart tomorrow and Thursday morning as well. The feathers, hair and thread pieces are building a nice pile atop my tying desk...

Tight lines, my friends, and thank you for your patience. Much appreciated...

Hello jaxman,

I sent you a PM about 10 minutes ago, but here's a recap of it...

Most of the boxes that I tie up these days are the "Miracle 100+," the "Streamers 2015" collection and on occasion, some flies for the salt. I believe that you'd find the "Miracle 100+" fly box to be to your liking, even if it is a few $$$ more. The "cost per fly" ratio differs little from the "FB 90," and the expanded selection allows me to tie up and put a larger variety of flies in your hands to take on almost any stream/river conditions. It might be worth a look...

By the way, the "65/35" percentages-- dries to nymphs/streamers --aren't etched in stone. I strive for a great deal of flexibility in tying up a fly box to fit the angler, and not the other way around.

Let me know your thoughts, jaxman, and we can go from there. But, please do take a look at the "Miracle 100+" and the photos near the end of the thread posted by "trees." Those best show a typical "Miracle 100+".

And, welcome to this "band of brothers" known simply as "the forum." It's made up of some of the finest people I know...

Wade safe, fish hard and live each day...

Hi Jerry,

New member and new fly fisher. Is there a site/store where you generally sell your flies from, or is just done via PM?

Hey Mike,

Welcome to the finest fly-fishing forum anywhere, and to the sport of "wrangling a fly." If you stay close to this forum, there is a wealth of knowledge here that will help you in the seasons to come.

As for my "bugs?" I'm strictly a "home-spun" sort of thing, as my tying and my boxes are sold to help me fund the free tying classes for "my kids"-- kids battling/surviving cancer, just like me --and not to turn some kind of "profit." So long as I can keep the classes going-- they're coming up on their 17th year this Fall/Winter --my time and talent(?) are my way of paying back my own 18+ year survival from three bouts of brain cancer, and paying it forward by helping to make the lives of "my kids" a bit better in the process.

Currently, I'm concentrating most of my efforts of the "Miracle 100+" fly box-- a lot of additional flies for only a bit more money --and the "Streamers 2015" boxes. Respectively, they are $80 and $60 per box, delivered to your door.

If you're interested in a fly box, just drop me a PM and we can hash out the details. And, if there are "special" flies needed, please don't hesitate to ask. I don't "stock" any "bugs" as I tend to tie up my boxes to order-- to fit the angler's needs, and not the other way around. I find it's better that way...

Let me know, Mike, and we'll go from there. Again, welcome to the forum and to fishing a fly. I wish you safe wades and plenty of tight lines in the seasons to come...

As I hinted-- OK flatly stated --toward the end of the "Fly Box 80" thread, I'm now putting together an even larger selection of flies in the bigger and better(?) "Fly Box 90" collections. Same price, same box, more flies and still shipped to your door on my dime-- unless you feel like kicking in a little extra. And, in typical hairwing530 form, the boxes are $70...

The mix and percentage of dries and nymphs is open to discussion, much the same as it's always been. I'd add a new photo, but it would look suspiciously similar to the "Fly Box 80" versions.

I'm trying to recover from the recent "custom order/no pay" fiasco, and if you've a need, I'm still wrapping hooks. Just let me know...

Oh, yes... the financial side of the coin. Paypal works best for me, and if you'd like a box or two, please drop me a PM or e-mail me at jwarrington1 at copper dot net That's also my Paypal info...

Be well, my friends, and tight lines to you all... always...

Well, after some searching, I realized I can't PM anyone until I have 25 posts. That might be a while. Jerry, I realize this post is over 6 years old but I just ordered my first fly rod and would be very happy to have your flies be the first flies I fish with. Hope this msg ends up in your hands. Thank you.

Hey Jerry,
I'd be interested in one of your fly collections - I'm a newbie fly fisherman looking to fish the streams of upstate NY for trout. How can I order one of your boxes, and what flies will it contain?

Thanks,
Clark
