Center axis bamboo rod

Here’s my second version of a center axis rod, but in bamboo. 6’ one piece, single foot guides, cork grip made from scraps and a donor Martin 60 reel. Too dang cold to lawn cast it today.....but I’ll start with a 4wt Sylk. Fairly stiff fast action.

Sage had one back in the early 90’s, Lamson just came out with one and this is my second bamboo version.....here’s my first one.

These are definitely different. How does this effect casting and playing a fish on one of these?

I’ve caught fish on the first one....doesn’t feel any different from other bamboo rods. I just finished the Martin reel rod, too much snow to even lawn (?) cast it. They’re just bamboo rods with a reel attached differently. The majority of trout are stripped in, so the reel holds the line.

I saw this post arrive on Friday but never clicked until today. If I were to chose I'd take rod #1 over the Martin model. I think I mentioned on your first post here that had a picture of that #1 Center Axis rod how I'd never seen anything like it before. Your craftsmanship is in a class of it's own and I think you should post more
