So I'm relocating from the Adirondack mountains in NY to Reno, Nevada. I'm looking at driving with my drift boat late December through mid January. To avoid the snow storms along the Great Lakes I'm taking at a southern swing to Tennesee and then point west towards Nevada. Does anyone have suggestions on rivers that I should fish along that trajectory?

In Missouri, the NF White is the wildest and most "Western" river. Wild rainbows and some big stocked browns, BUT it had a major flood and fish kill a few years ago. The Ozark trout parks are stocked daily in summer but are now on Thursday-Sunday C&R fishing with no stocking, so are a lot more interesting and less crowded. If it gets cold, my cousin Jack at fishinglakeoftheozarks.com has some secret smallmouth spots on the Gasconade River, though he is almost exclusively a Bassmaster-type guide.
