Orvis is closing out their fly lines in case anyone is looking for a holiday deal. You can visit the Orvis site to see what's available. Free shipping too!

I picked up two Hydros lines, 'marked down' to $49 or thereabouts. Could use a sinking tip for an extra spool, but the bigger question is: are they any good?

Scientific Anglers makes Orvis' lines. Perhaps four or so years ago Orvis purchased SA. I'm not sure if Orvis still owns Scientific Anglers now. I would think they are all good lines though. Orvis pumped a lot of cash into SA enabling them to do a fair amount of R&D.

The discounted lines, currently at $29, are last year's technology. It looks like Orvis is releasing updated lines for 2020. I would think the 2020 lines would be incrementally better. The 2020 lines aren't on sale though. I suspect SAs' newest lines may be incrementally better too. Again, they aren't on sale either.

I'll speak right up when I know the difference between 2019 and 2020 line technology. :)
