It's like running on a treadmill. You can run faster and faster, but you'll never get anywhere. In the meantime, just like a treadmill that takes you nowhere, all of that work acquiring fly rods satisfies the soul. Or at least that's the way to think about it.
Yes, agree. When out on the water with rod in hand, new or old, it all makes sense. Now back on the treadmill to save up for that 3-weight. 😀

I now have a medium fast 4 wt that will likely never be used, but is probably not “good” enough to draw any interest for a resale. I think even if I broke my current 4 wt, I'd use my 3 wt while awaiting repair.

I’m checking to see if any of my friends have an interest in learning to fly fish. If not, Perhaps I'll ask my local fly shop if they know of any kids or charities who would want a free rod.

I don't generally collect rods.
But...
I got a Sage TXL-F 7'10" 00 wt. I really liked it so I built another from a blank I found cheap.
Then other TXL-F blanks found their way to my house, a 2 wt. and a 3 wt. I built those, too.
So, I thought it would be interesting to see if I could find all the TXL-F series rod blanks.
They are 7'10" in 000, 00 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 wt. I found all of them with not too much trouble.
Sage also made two of these rods, the 3 and 4 wt., in a 6'10" length. I found the 4 wt. I have not found the 3 wt. anywhere.

Fly rods only 7. After all I am just getting into fly fishing. 😁 TBH I only see 2 more in my future. A 9' 6wt and a fiberglass rod...probably a 4wt. Spinning rods not too bad, but baitcast rods......way too many.

Looked back at first 4 pages. Don't think I got in this.
Most of my rods are for salt water. Have 13 rods from 6 to 9w. One rod each of 10, 12, and 14w.
Fresh water uhm . . . 2, 3, 4, and 5w's. Mmmm . . . maybe 14 rods. If I want to go heavier. Use the salt 6's.
Jeez . . . I gotta get rid of some.

Realistically, -too many.

I've been actively reducing the overall number for a while now and trying to finesse the stable. The reduction is still very much a work in progress but when I think back to 10-15 years ago, I've made great strides in thinning the forest.

Interesting rod rack. Did you make it (if so, would you share your specs) or purchase it (and if so, where)? I take it you like Scotts.

I think I'll start collecting pennies. Fly rods are a bit out of my budget.

Just 3…

Moonshine Drifter 376
Sage SLT 586
TFO Axiom II 790

I’m starting to play around in the salt a little bit more so there may be some kind of 9 or 10 weight in my future…

Have a bunch, don't know how many, but would like to sell many of them. On the other hand there are a couple I would like to buy. Been collecting SA System fiberglass rods lately and would like to find a four and/or five in close to new condition.

Well....the number now sits at 15, but I traded a few that I was not using and picked up a couple that I think will be of more use. Anyway, the hunt for what I like best is always the fun part...
