It looks similar to the Cortland outfit that I started with, back in '67. Cortland made rods for other companies, and from that era, could be anything from about a 5 wt to a 9 wt. I doubt it's for lines lighter than a 5.

My outfit was for an 8 wt line.

As for matching it with a reel, the Pflueger Medalist would be a good match, and once you do find a line that works, then get the appropriate sized reel. I have a Medalist 1495 DA which has an adjustable drag, and it would be a good fit to a rod like that. The reel won't hold any large amounts of backing, but even 50 yards should be sufficient.
